What Do You Think About?

Jim Donovan To paraphrase James Allen’s classic self-help book, “as you think so you are.” What you think and speak about determines the quality of your life. If you spend your time worrying about your job, bills, health, relationships, etc., you’re probably focusing on what you do not want.

Now I can hear some of you saying, “Wait Jim, you don’t understand. I have all these problems.” Trust me, I do understand. I’ve been there and back enough times in my life to understand one simple fact. The more you focus on your bills and problems, the more they show up in your life. It’s the Law of Attraction. The Law of Attraction works regardless of whether or not you want what you are focused on. You get whatever you think and speak about. It’s a simple Law like gravity.

So the million dollar question is, “How do you change this situation?” You do it by putting your attention on what you DO want by affirming that you already have it and believing it. The Bible says, “Whatever you ask for in prayer, believe you have received it and it is given unto you.”

If you have prayed for a more prosperous life and are still worrying about money, you’re not believing. You are, in effect, contradicting God. If you want to change your situation, any situation, constantly look at what’s good, what’s right and what’s working. For all practical purposes, ignore reality! Reality is always what you currently have. If you want to change any situation, you cannot do so by seeing the current reality.

What we call reality is only a temporary condition and can change at a moments notice. Your reality is merely a representation of your inner thoughts so, if you want to change your reality, change your thinking. A wise person once said, “If you change your thinking, you’ll change your life.”

Some time ago, I was on a call with a coaching client. In the beginning of the conversation, she mentioned that one of her short term desires was to be delivering tele-classes as a way to build her business. She said she had two people signed up for an introductory class. We continued our call and I listed patiently to her concerns and challenges. We reached a point where I asked her what was working. She replied, “Nothing.” I pointed out to her that she had just told me she had two people signed up for her class to which she remarked, in a depressed tone, “Sure but I want ten people and I only have two.” I coached her around the idea that by appreciating the two she had, she was putting herself in the energy of attracting more. This is how the universe works. When you begin to notice and appreciate what you have, you attract more.

Look for the slightest bit of evidence that what you want is coming to you. If you want more money and find a dime on the street, be grateful, for it is a sign that what you’re asking for is coming your way. Avoid the trap of cynicism by saying things like, “Well it’s only a dime.”

Notice little things that confirm your desires are manifesting and give thanks for it. By being grateful you are appreciating that which you already have and are in the vibrational energy of attraction. Remember, “To he who has, more is given.” He or she, who is grateful for what they have, receives more. No matter where you are or what your present circumstances may be, there are always things you can be thankful for.

If you’re ready for a major shift in your life, I challenge you to engage in the exercise below for the next thirty days. I first learned this from Abraham-Hicks - www.abraham-hicks.com
