Karen Kerrigan ...Passage of 'Jobs and Growth' Package

Washington, D.C. – A national advocacy organization for women entrepreneurs hailed today’s passage of the $350 billion economic growth package by the Congress. According to Women Entrepreneurs Inc. (WE Inc.), the package includes an array of measures that will help women business owners access capital to purchase new equipment, hire employees, or improve benefit packages for their workforce.

"The tax relief and expensing improvements of the economic package passed by Congress will truly help fuel the growth of women business owners across the country. Increased business investment is key to our nation’s economic strength, and we are pleased that the legislation will help women entrepreneurs from the start-up stage to those on a high-growth path," said WE Inc. president and CEO Karen Kerrigan.

Lowering individual marginal rates, liberalizing expensing limits to $100,000, reducing taxes on capital gains and dividends are a few of the important measures cited by WE Inc. as important to women business owners. Putting additional resources in the hands of consumers also adds to the power of the overall package, according to the group.

"The passage of the economic growth package by Congress comes at an ideal time. With optimism increasing among businesses and consumers the package will help fuel confidence and momentum," added Kerrigan.
