Dr. Cynthia Zurchin

Dr. Cynthia R. Zurchin is the assistant superintendent of the Moon Area School District in Moon Township, Pennsylvania. Previously, she spent twenty-five years in the Pittsburgh public schools where she worked as an elementary and high school principal and administrator on special assignment training new principals, assisting low achieving schools, and integrating arts education programs. She also served as a staff development specialist, middle school assistant principal, and a middle and high school teacher.

Cindy received her doctorate degree in educational leadership from Duquesne University, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She has studied leadership at the Covey Leadership Institute in Utah and has taught in Brisbane, Australia.

Her article, "The Whale Done! School," was published in the March/April 2001 National Association of Elementary and Secondary School Principal Magazine.

Cindy regularly speaks and coaches on the Whale Done! theme for national and local conferences and institutes. She is a board member for Yoga in Schools and the Education Partnership. She also serves as president of Phi Delta Kappa and as a participant in Leadership Pittsburgh. Earlier in her career she founder Cynthia's School of Dance & Music to teach the love of dance and music to students.
