Joseph Bensmihen

Currently, JB serves as President and CEO of St. Pete Care at Home and lives in St. Petersburg, Florida. He travels frequently for speaking and coaching engagements. Over the past decade, JB has advised multiple members of Congress—Congressman Ted Deutch (D), Congressman Dennis Ross (R), Congressman Jim Langevin (D), Congressman Tom Rooney (R), Congressman Patrick Murphy (D), and former Congressman and Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R)—as well as U.S. senator Marco Rubio (R), former senator Mary Landrieu (D), and Florida Governor Rick Scott (R). Topics have included health care, consumer rights, the sustainability of small businesses, and American-Israeli relations. For over 20 years, he has been a highly successful business owner and home health care executive.

JB is the former National President of the Private Care Association, a national association that supports consumer choice in private health care and the rights of caregivers who serve those consumers. For seven years he has been a member of the Board of Overseers for the men’s undergraduate college at Yeshiva University. Until 2014, when he sold the business, he was the CEO of United Elder Care Services, a company providing home health care in south Florida. Thereafter, he served as Vice President of Evergreen Private Care in Houston. He has also served as a court-appointed guardian since 1998.

In 2016, JB walked (with two canes) in the Miami Marathon; served as the master of ceremonies for the marathon’s kickoff event the evening before; and ran as a centrist Republican for a seat in the Florida House of Representatives in District 68, located in St. Petersburg and some of its suburbs.

JB has given over 600 inspirational talks at a wide range of venues, from Chautauqua Institute to Yeshiva University. He is a regular presenter around the United States for Friendship Circle and the Ruderman Inclusion Initiative, two organizations dedicated to inclusion for people with disabilities.
