Ryan Cooper

Ryan J. Cooper, CIPP/US, heads the firm’s Privacy and Information Governance practice group, advising clients on the legal risks arising out of information and data management, including privacy, data security, and e-discovery. Ryan’s practice emphasizes efficiently managing privacy and data management risk through problem solving, strategic advice, and counseling.

Ryan counsels clients on privacy and data security compliance under state and federal law, including the Fair Credit Reporting Act, Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act, and their state law analogs, among others. In addition, Ryan advises on and litigates regulatory and civil disputes arising out of privacy and data security related consumer protection statutes, including the FTC Act and New Jersey Consumer Fraud Act.

A leader within the New Jersey privacy law community, Ryan writes and lectures frequently on technology, privacy, and information management issues. Ryan is certified as an Information Privacy Professional on US private sector law by the International Association of Privacy Professionals. Prior to joining Pashman Stein, Ryan was Litigation Counsel at Lowenstein Sandler, and an Associate at Morgan, Lewis & Bockius LLP. He previously served as a law clerk to the Honorable Renée Marie Bumb in the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey.
